Final Song Choice - Taylor Swift I'd Lie

For our target audience we have gone for young girls aged 10-18. The type of song which it is reflects what these girls may be going through, meeting boys and starting relationships. The genre also indicates that young teenage girls would listen to it as it is a ‘pop’ genre.

The genre of the song ‘I’d Lie’ is pop/country. It has this mixture of the two due to the instruments being used brings out that country type feel and the lyrics and what is being sung is very much typical of the pop genre.
The music video we are hoping to produce relies a lot on mise en scene; it’s all about the different images. The pop star is key to selling the song, they need to look good and were appropriate clothing. To highlight the country feel we have gone for her wear a checked shirt and using props such as a guitar.

The type of music video that we want to film is a combination of two, both narration and performance. We feel the performance is needed as this is her first song being released. People need to see her and she needs to sell the song in order to gain a big fan base which would lead to her success. However to aid the performance and bring out the lyrics in the song we included the narration. To highlight what the song is about and give something for the viewers more visuals.

There is obviously going to be the main pop star, which needs to be confident and reflect the mood of the song. Her image is very important and she needs to sell the song and herself in order to gain the fans needed to be successful. Within the narration there will be two other key characters which one will be the girl who the singer is talking about. She will innocent and unnoticed by her peers at school. The other main person would be the boy who she is after. He will have to be confident and able to show off and feel superior to this girl. Other characters within the video will be extra just to move the narration along and make the video more realistic.

Our music video will be filmed in many locations. The performance part will take place in Thorndon park which a very picturesque location. It again links into the genre and brings out the country side to the song. The main narration will be filmed in different places too. Some will be around school areas as that is the ideal place for the girl and boy to meet. Also down streets so that a wide range of locations and re-tells the song lyrics in a visual way. There will also be shots within a house of the girl. She will be in her bedroom thinking about being elsewhere.

We hope our music video will be shown on a number of different music channels such as MTV, Smash Hits and the Box. Not only channels but programmes too like GMTV where she is promoting her music and will perform at the end. Promoting the single, we will be putting the CD cover in many magazines like OK, Heat and More. We hope to do as much promoting as we can. This will also include a website so that fans can follow the star and gain information about new songs and upcoming gigs.
